Pre-Ballet classes are designed for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 6. Children are introduced to the basic kinds of movements such as walking, jumping, running, darting, rising, gliding, and bending, while being exposed to the relationship between music, rhythm, and dance.
Beginning Ballet I classes introduce the beginning student to the elementary movements of ballet. The body positions, line, placement, control, and musicality receive careful and equal attention.
Intermediate Ballet II classes teach students to utilize and combine the concepts learned in Beginning Ballet I. Students are introduced to steps of elevation, turns, and basic beats. Female students are given preparatory pointe work; male students receive repetitions of air tours and more complex beat combinations. Continued study of line, placement, and musicality are stressed.
Advanced/Professional Ballet III classes give attention to all aspects of technique with emphasis on musical phrasing, style, and speed. The classic variations and pas de deux from classic ballets are taught with special attention to technical refinements and dramatic interpretation.
Floor Exercises are included at all levels of development. They are designed to supplement the traditional approach to technique. These exercises develop turnout, extension, and control, while keeping the muscles long and slender.
